Best and Worst Of Resort 2018

Missoni Resort 2018

Because I’m getting married in September in Tel Aviv I’ve been closely watching the Resort 2018 collections looking for inspiration for the events surrounding my actual wedding, and there have been some stunners! Stunning – for the better and for the worst. Gucci in Florence, Dior in L.A., Chanel in Greece…while there were some beautiful looks, there were also some serious WTF moments. So far this season’s parade of over-the-top shows is featuring colorful frocks and major headwear and prints. Athleisure inspiration remains strong an we’re still seeing a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern influence. Checkout below for some of the standout looks!

I haven’t been into butterflies since the whole butterfly clip craze 15 years ago but this bag is a standout if you’ve got the budget to splurge on a conversation piece you’ll only wear for one season.

Love or hate it, the whole “Guccy” resort is catchy in a very Moschino way. But those awful jeans!!

You can’t really go wrong with classic Chanel tweed, but you can definitely go wrong with gladiator sandals.

Everything about this look is too much. Ironic because Coco Chanel famously said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” In this case I would chop that frill below the model’s bust…and those awful shoes!!

The bracelets and rings are great, but the embroidery is excessive, especially with all this layering. Also, anyone else find this coat more Zara than Dior?

Let’s leave the equestrian inspiration to Hermes, not Dior.

I know people LOVE Prada and think that Muiccia can do no wrong. When it comes to accessories I tend to agree, but with ready-to-wear… this collection speaks for itself.

More of Prada’s jumbled mess…

Silhouettes seem more relaxed this season, another trend I’m not loving because I’m a sucker for crisp tailoring.

Pearl embellishments may not be new – and I’ve seen a few denim pearl embellished jackets online already – but I still love this Rebecca Minkoff look.

So Juicy-inspired tracksuits really are back. Here’s an example from Valentino. I have to say I kind of love this…

A great look till you see the peep holes. Does anyone really need a trench with peep holes?

When Fendi gets fur wrong…

When Fendi gets fur so right…

While most designers have been going slouchy this season, we can always count on Cavalli for a slim fit. Above, a look from his Just Cavalli Resort 2018 collection.
