Here’s a first (literally). Dr. Dana is, so far, the only dermatologist developed nail polish line. You might think it’s odd for a derm to create a nail care line, I sure did, but when I poked around a bit I found out that it came about because Dr. Dana Stern kept hearing her patients complain that they weren’t satisfied with the color, health, and overall appearance of their nails no matter what nail treatments they used. I for one am not happy with the color my nails when I take off my polish, it just never occurred to me to ask my derm about it!
“Most of the treatment products on the market just camouflage the issue and almost all contain harmful chemicals, which causes further damage to the nail and poses a potential risk to overall health,” says Dr. Dana Stern. Given that it’s usually easier to prevent problems rather than treat them, Dr. Dana Stern worked on creating her own line of products – inspired by accomplished women (polish names include Gayle King and Kelly Ripa).
There are six shades along with a top and base coat and unlike most polishes that claim to be chemical-free because they’re “3-free,” this line is 9-free meaning there is no formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde resin, camphor, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, parabens, or triphenyl phosphate.
I love the packaging! It reminds me of the limited edition polish Nail Inc. did with Victoria Beckham (but with a better, made-in-Italy, brush) and the collections has all the color essentials (from neutrals to brights).
