Lip powders started as a Korean beauty trend, but are now available at mainstream retailers like Sephora and at beauty counters like Chanel. So what in the heck is this? Just like it sounds it’s a powder that applies on lips with a sponge applicator on a wand or in a compact, something makeup artists have done with eyeshadow for years! While these powders feel powdery before application, when mixed with the natural oils on lips, they get a slick lipstick texture. You can use almost all of them, like the above one from Chanel, as blush too. I’m not a big lipstick person but when I saw that Sephora had a powder for just $5 I couldn’t help but buy it and see what the internet hype was all about. It’s the only one I’ve tried so I can generalize, but this one applied very light, like a tinted balm, but the more you apply the darker the hue so it’s great for anyone looking for buildable coverage. It lasted long and didn’t dry out my lips even when the humidity levels started to drop. I was curious if it would work as shadow…it does! At $5 now is a great time to try this multi-duty product, which I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of in 2019.
