Bottega Veneta Anaconda Lucida Lux

So you saw the dark blue Valextra Crocodile that Kelly talked me out of because she said it was too much to spend our hard earned Bag Snob money on. Well, I walked in to the Bottega Veneta boutique right after only to be tempted by this beauty (I really should just stay home as my husband often suggests, but since I buy bags with money I earn from Bag Snob, he really has no say does he?). I was hypnotized not only by the unique gray/taupe color but the gorgeous Anaconda skin. This is one of those times when I just did not care how much it was going to cost, I had to get it. (Of course any bag would seem like a bargain after seeing the crocodile price!)

sidebv.jpgThe minute I put the bag on my shoulders, I knew it would be mine because the design is beyond brilliant. The straps are adjustable by 5 inches so you can either carry it as a top handle bag for luncheons and dinners or lengthen it to a slouchy shoulder bag for days of running around! It doesn't stop there, it is actually a structured frame bag with a soft body so it will never, ever, lose it's shape! Now we all love a good frame bag but it can seem kind of stuffy for certain occasions but the unstructured body of the Lucida bag makes it more casual for daily wear. I can not tell you how perfect this bag is. I really think I have found THE BAG OF THE YEAR. The color, named Limo, changes depending where you are, in the store it had an elegant dark gray sheen but in the sun, it was light and taupe-y. It absolutely will go with everything I own! The interior is lavender suede, can you say delish?

interiorbv.jpgWhen Jasenka, the Supervisor at BV Dallas told me it was a special edition and not available in large quantities, I wanted it even more. I called Kelly again and persuaded her to buy a BV bag as well so I would not feel guilty (we share our Bag Snob money equally :). So our day of extravagance left us both with brand new bags from our favorite designer du jour. You'll have to wait a while before she can share hers with you as she is officially on maternity leave. Bottega Veneta Anaconda Lucida Lux bag in Limo available at select Bottega Boutiques. Email Jasenka for pricing and details or call her at 214-265-0136 .

Roland Mouret is Making Us Spend!

Left: Neptune Dress, Right: Moon Dress

The Roland Mouret collection is enough to make me want to work out 24/7 after my baby is born so I can buy the entire collection and be fabulous for every occasion of my life. Not that I need to be a size 0 for any of this stuff, I just need to have my old figure back and that is what I love about this RM line. He is realistic about what real women look like and he compensates for the trouble areas. My absolute most favorite must Louboutin_rolandeslingback.jpg
have is the Neptune Dress ($2385). It is sophisticated enough for important parties yet easy enough for regular lunches with girlfriends. The panels are strategically placed to give the appearance of a waist for those lacking, the skirt flips out to flatter the hips and the sleeves hide the much hated underarm crease. Tina ordered the Moon Dress ($2150) which is also to die for and perfect for her because it accentuates her small waist and elongates the legs. The fact that we can both buy from this line really says a lot about how well he understands the female form because anyone straight out of design school can make dresses look good for dolls and mannequins. To pair off with these perfect dresses, Roland collaborated with Christian Louboutin on shoes, how fun must that have been?!!? These Louboutin Slingbacks ($710) need no words of praise, just look at them and you will sell your beloved purebred cat to have them. The entire collection is available for pre-order on Net-a-Porter.

Weekend Bag Envy

pinkostrich.jpg

So here is Posh with one of my dream bags, the Hermes birkin in pink ostrich. Can you say jealous? I ordered the moon dress from RM by Roland Mouret in dove gray last week which I think is much more chic than her pink version so I don't envy her for that. However, the pink ostrich birkin is just what I need to go with my gray dress (I would never match it the way she did- pink on pink is no good unless you are a Barbie twin on a Playboy photo shoot). Ok ok, I am being bitchy because I REALLY.WANT.THAT.BAG but come on now, being so matchy matchy just lacks style and taste. Alright, fine, I'll be nice. Her sunglasse look very nice on her. There, my weekend random thoughts as I wait for my son to wake from his nap. Have a good one! (Kamo has a good point, Posh is known for her cheeky humour, this could be her "Hello America- I am your new Barbie statement.)

L. Bartlett

L. Bartlett, a very hip boutique in the West Village (in Downtown Dallas), is a store you all need to know about. I've known the owner, Laura Bartlett Bush(no relations to the other LB in the White House), since she was a perky fourteen year old and have watched her blossom into a gorgeous and accomplished young woman. After graduating from SMU two years ago she decided to open her shop and has worked tirelessly to stock it with the latest fashions from around the world! I am so proud of her and know that you will enjoy shopping at her boutique for everything from Fresh cosmetics to the latest wide legged jeans. Eva Longoria is not Bridezilla

evaweddingclutch.jpg
I read in WWD that Eva Longoria is not a desperate housewife nor a bridezilla. Check out the generous goodies she had custom made for all 10 of her bridesmaids (with their monogram on back!) These are one-of- a-kind minaudieres created by Rafe Totengco just for her wedding, of course the bride got one as well. Eva was also clad in custom-made Chanel and Vera Wang and Boucheron jewelry when she wed basketball player Tony Parker this past weekend in Paris. As obnoxious as the press have made her celebration to be, you have to admit every girl wishes to have a memorable wedding to the man of her dreams and I for one am happy she got all the gaudy bling bling and attention her heart desired.

Dressing for Couture

ChanelCouture_ferg_van.jpg

Bad days for both Tina and I cuz we are just not positive about anything today!! This is Vanessa Paradis and Fergie front row at the Chanel haute Couture show. Yes, they are celebrities and Vanessa is French so she can look fashionable in whatever but just so they know, this is what other people wear to Couture shows.

DiorCouture_jessica_alba.jpgDiorCouture_charlize_theron.jpg

I would say other than having a great stylist behind her, Jessica Alba is not mature enough to appreciate Couture but she is at least respectful and tries to look the part wearing Dior. Charlize Theron, well how can she go wrong? She looks like she is receiving another Oscar and she should just for looking so beautiful all the time. Well, her hair is a little too Medusa-ish for me and the makeup could be less Morticia Adams. Wow, I am pissy today! Can't even be perfectly nice to one of my favorite celebrities. Maybe I should go get myself some juice and take a nap.

Dior Fall 2007 Couture

diorcouture_amber.jpgdiorcouture_linda.jpgdiorcouture_naomi.jpgdiorcouture_shalom.jpg

Loved loved loved Dior's Couture collection!! And I really loved that Galliano used old time models like Naomi, Shalom, Amber, Linda and Karen that I used to work with when I was young (oh! I did not just call these girls old!!), although I never actually worked with Linda but I wish I had. When I say worked with them, I meant that I brought coffee and took Polaroids of them, and held Naomi's white fur coat while she was being fitted so that it didn't touch anything (other than my grubby hands of course). It's funny how they claim to be the same age as me now but when I worked with them, they were definitely older. I guess their math is as good as mine. We still love them no matter their age, they look amazing, partly from the fact that Galliano, as Christian Dior did, loves women and knows how to accentuate all our fabulous parts. This is the 60th Anniversary of the House of Dior and Galliano showed restraint and respect to the man who revolutionized the way women dressed. The show was theatrical as always but was romantic and genuine instead of outrageous for the sake of being outrageous. I always fantasized about the days when women dressed up, I mean really dressed up like Marie Antoinette, and although I don't see myself veering from daily my t-shirt and jeans routine (I was on my way to a daytime wedding and stopped by Starbucks in my floor length gown, hair all done, makeup not exactly meant for harsh lighting and everyone stared at me like I was nuts. Imagine any of these gowns in that scenario), there are those occasion where Dior or Chanel Couture would come in handy.

Hermes celebrates 70 years in Silks

hermessilk.jpg

Hermes is geared up to celebrate 70 years of selling silk scarves and where better to celebrate than in China, the country that is the biggest producer and exporter of the fine material? Hermes will unveil a two-week exhibit devoted to its signature silk scarves at Hong Kong's Pacific Place mall June 29. Called "Once Upon a Silk," the show was designed by American artist Hilton McConnico as a poetic homage to the house's amazing archives of silk carrés. McConnico used a Chinese legend about the origins of the Silk Route to organize the exhibit.

Posh vs. Kate Moss

Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss; both Brits, both impossibly thin but that's where the similarities end. While Kate evokes feelings of envy and admiration in me, Ms. Beckham just gives me the creeps. Look at her, she is neither cute nor human looking. It's as if she's some robotic machine, posing as dictated by a remote control. And Kate, she's just so naturally stylish, nothing faux about her. It is no secret Kelly and I love Kate Moss' style, though I don't approve of her lifestyle, you gotta admit no one put themselves together like Kate can. Whether it be jeans or cocktail dress, she makes it all look so effortless. By the way, I am loving her boot cut jeans with platform shoes because I am sick of my skinny jeans and am ready to throw them out (mostly because of all the Hollywood skanks running around in those Tsubi jeans)! Meanwhile, Posh is strutting around in skinny whites and pointy stilettos at the premier of her DVB line of sunglasses. Is it me or does she look like she's about to topple over? Those silicone melons look way too heavy for her toothpick legs and she always looks so uncomfortable in her own skin that she makes me feel uncomfortable when I look at her.

What do you girls think- Who's the Snob here? Posh or Kate?

Louis Vuitton Resort 2008

lvresort.jpglvresort2.jpglvresort3.jpglvresort4.jpg

Whimsical and flirty ruled at the Louis Vuitton Resort 2008 show where MJ showed us once again why we fell in love with him in the first place. Forget the debauchery that has now become a signature in LV bags; what we have here ladies, is beautiful clothes. I loved the volume in the girly girl dresses created by floaty fabrics and contrasted with cheeky prints such as airplanes, speedboats and yachts. The mix of bright colors and feminine silhouettes make for clothes that will please everyone, not just jet setting social girls that resort collections cater to. I even like the large weekender bag trimmed in red patent leather (yes I know it's monstously huge but it's a travel bag and I am really into red today). I know what you're thinking- I'm softening; but it's really a great weekender bag for those quick trips to the Bermuda when you have to get away from the city grind (though we still detest the LV monogram this bag is not as vomit inducing as most)! All in all, a double thumbs up for Marc Jacobs and the Louis Vuitton Resort '08 collection from the Snob Girls.
