I am not a hairy lady. In fact, far from it, which is surprisingly even more annoying than having arms or legs full of hair. The hair on my legs grows kind of sporadically, in small and uneven patches. Too much info, I know, but there’s a reason for this, so bear with me! After a quick inspection in the shower, I often find myself thinking I’m in the clear and don’t need to shave, after which I throw on a skirt or dress, only to realizes there are a few stray hairs on the side of my calf by the time I arrive at my destination.
While I don’t have a lot of body hair, what little I do have is very dark and noticeable. One of my aunts, who has the same issue, told me she tweezes her leg and underarm hairs because they’re so sparse. I tried it and I have to say it was almost as painful as childbirth. But I hate shaving. I’m very bad at it, constantly nicking myself. (A cut on the underarm is no fun. Trust me on this.)
That’s why I was thrilled to discover Iluminage. It’s so easy to use and it’s pain-free. I even braved it on my sideburns! FDA-approved, it’s the only at-home device that combines Intense Pulsed Light and Radio Frequency. The technology sounds intense, but the feeling is far from it. The machine worked exceptionally well for me, possibly because the hair on my legs, though sparse, is dark and thick. Then again, it works on a wide variety of skin tones and hair shades, promising results no matter what your coloring. After three treatments, I wouldn’t say my hairs have completely vanished, but my skin is definitely smoother and the hair on my legs and face is noticeably reduced. They recommend seven treatments, along with periodic touch-ups, for full results. With just a few more sessions to go, this holiday season, I won’t be hiding my legs under tights. At Iluminage for $445.
I was very nervous the first time I tried this, but it was so easy and painfree!
Took the Iluminage to the spa to try it on my sideburns with a friend (goggles included!).
Laser cool! You won’t feel a thing!
