Michael Kors NYFW Spring 2019 Collection is Filled With Colour And Optimism

Just as I’m typing this, my mind is flying across the North Atlantic ocean and anticipating what’s in store for Paris Fashion Week, which is sure to be jam packed and crazy. Let’s take one step back, though because today is all about Michael Kors Spring 2019 collection, firmly in New York.

If there’s one collection that’ll make you happy during NYFW, this could be it.  It is super optimistic, colourful and encourages you to just chill out! You cant’t argue with that, can you?

Commissioned to help with this task, Australian Artist Christina Zimpel creates simple, kid-like illustrations inspired by beaches around the world to whisk you away from 9-5 life. It sure has me whisking away to Italy’s Almalfi coast! The bright hues used in the paintings means it translates really well on the ginormous, hand-carried shopping totes – perfect for a holiday escape to go with your perfect tan.

The Bancroft also gets a new relaxed makeover as a shoulder bag rendered in python, and painted with joyful, appropriate Spring flowers. My favourite however, is a new small, short-strapped bag, with a shape that reminds me of the Fendi Baguette. It features intricate embroidery and delicate, crystal-encrusted hardware in the shapes of pretty aquatic starfishes and beach shells.

If you love long fringe details, similar to the bags I saw on Longchamp’s runway, then you’ll get plenty of that as well.
