What’s better than surfers, rock stars, and beach babes partying together? Pretty much nothing, which is why I’m bummed to have missed the debut of the Oliver Peoples WEST summer collection on Saturday! The new segment of my favorite sunglasses brand takes inspiration from the great state of California and its sense of casual cool, most notably from Daize Shayne Goodwin’s photo series OHANA. The iconic surfer shots were on full display at the Malibu celebration, and now you can get a look at them below (also, be sure to take a minute to gawk at event guests like Danny Fuller – he was the swoon-worthy surfer in those Chanel ads!).
This collection makes me want to move back to Cali ASAP…if not for me, then for my boy! By the age of eight, he had already surfed in Hawaii, Venice, Mexico, Laguna, and Puerto Rico. Dallas just isn’t cutting it for him when it comes to the beachfront. Until then, though, we’ll just have to play pretend with my Oliver Peoples. I have half a dozen pairs, including a few from the ‘90s that I wore throughout college. My son has since stolen those (he inherited his good taste from his mother), which means one thing – time to restock! At Oliver Peoples from $265 – $295.
