Less Is More: I Replaced My 13-Step Nightly Skincare Routine with Two Products That Changed My Skin

Skincare Routine

Unfiltered selfie snapped on my iPhone on the last day of shows. Glowing skin thanks to TWO products, the Biologique Recherche P50 and Vintner’s Daughter serum.

It’s no secret I am a skincare fanatic, I will try anything in the pursuit of perfect skin. I once prided myself on a ridiculous 13-step nightly skincare routine that took half and hour each evening. But a different product for each part of the face, neck and chest cost a fortune not to mention was nearly impossible to travel with. I tried for years to simplify this routine but never found anything that worked. I hated being high maintenance and wanted desperately to find an easy three step routine (cleanse, tone and moisturizer) as my family, work and social schedule became more hectic with time. And trust me when I say I tried EVERYTHING. Well it took me years but I believe I have finally found the perfect night time routine that takes a mere 3 steps with only a few key products! Read on to see how you can simplify your beauty routine, save precious time and money, plus look years younger.

Skincare Routine

Step One: CLEANSE

I love cleansing oils but they wreak havoc on my lash extensions. I now use Beauty Bioscience Balancing Cleanser– it is a gel formula that washes my make up off without a trace, replacing the double make up remover + cleansing steps. A few times a week I also use it with Clarisonic Mia Fit brush for a deeper cleanse. But I don’t recommend using the Clarisonic daily- it could be harsh on sensitive skin.

Beauty Bioscience Balancing Cleanser (on Amazon for $35)

Clarisonic Mia Fit (at Bloomingdales for $219)

Step Two: EXFOLIATE AND TONE

I will never forget the first time I tried Biologique Recherche P50 1970 (original formula)- it burned and stung like crazy but I was HOOKED! My skin was immediately smoother and brighter as if I had a peel! The main ingredient is Phenol,  an acidic component that is both antiseptic and a mild anesthetic (so you’re numb before you feel the burn). It has been shown to posses skin-lightening properties as well (I cut out my pigmentation serum because this did double duty). Then there is lactic acid and sulfur which explains the disgusting sour milk scent (don’t worry you’ll get used to the smell). I love lactic acid, it’s less irritating than other forms of hydroxy acids but it’s more effective (at least for me). It is also more hydrating than glycolic acids (I cut out my nightly glycolic acid peel thanks to this) and it offers hyper pigmentation lightening benefits. I now can’t live without my P50 exfoliating toner, and I just started the new P50 PIGM 400 which specifically treats pigmentation in addition to exfoliation and fighting wrinkles. A few drops on a cotton pad to dab all over face, neck and chest each night (never rub as it may irritate sensitive areas) is all you need (you can work up to twice a day as I have).  I promise you will fall in love at the first burn. Every single person I turned this on to LOVES it.

Biologique Recherche P50 sold at Joule Spaemail, or call (+1) 214-748-1300 to order.

Pro Tip: Once or twice a week I drench two cotton pads and leave it on my face for 20min as a deep penetrating peel/mask to help with pigmentation and fine lines. It’s like an at home peel!

Skincare Routine

Step 3: MOISTURIZE

Do you believe in miracles? I don’t. But when I was told that this one single product from Vintner’s Daughter outsells most skin care brands with multiple products I had to try for myself. The first few days of use I felt it was just another overhyped organic oil (I need science and chemicals!) – it smelled nice but I didn’t really see any difference. I continued using it as I like to give new products at least 3-4 weeks before a review. A week went by, nothing. At two weeks, my skin seemed more even but again, nothing drastic (I missed my chemicals!). By the third week I was ready to give up but noticed that my pores seemed smaller even though I haven’t had a facial in a month and my face definitely looked brighter. I went to NYFW at the one month mark and only brought this serum and an eye cream for my night treatment. It was during NYFW that I noticed my skin had completely changed. No more dullness from lack of sleep (possibly caused by 13 products on my face?!) and the velvety bright texture was better than my skin at age 25! Everyone marveled at my skin, many calling me Benjamin Button and accused me of aging in reverse. I am now hooked! So what’s in Vintner’s Daughter if not chemicals? 22 active botanic organic ingredients that work together to completely change your skin’s texture and elasticity while treating wrinkles, acne, minimize pores and a multitude of problems, leaving your skin radiant. The best part? With none of the toxic fillers found in almost every product in my beauty stash! For $185 it replaced my expensive serums, night creams and oils. To apply: a third of the dropper into your palm, warm between both palms and hold your hands over both sides of your face in upward massage motion, lightly massage with ring finger around eyes, press onto neck and chest areas as well as your forehead. I have never felt more strongly about a single product in my entire life! Seriously, try this and report back to me (you can thank me with a bottle of bubbly). Give it at least 3-4 weeks! Available at Need Supply Co. for $185.

Vintner’s Daughter also available at Forty Five Ten Dallas and Houston. Email or call Brandon (+1) 214-559-4510 to order!

Note: this is NOT a sponsored post! I really believe in these products and think you will love them as well!

Hi Tina, this is Maria. I wanted to try the Vintners Daughter Botanical Serum but the price for me is expensive, do you have in mind closer to this brand with the same ingredients in the bottle? Really appreciate your response since I wanted to feel beautiful also. Thank you.

Pricey, ughh! I saw you first in Chriselles video, about famous bloggers skincare secrets. You said, that you rubb grapefruit over your face and then wash your face with milk. Because lactic acid will calm the skin. Now,do you leave the milk overnight on your face,or you wash it off after couple of minutes?
    P.S. I can afford grapefruit&milk,VD – no way 🙂

    • February 22, 2017 / 8:19 pm

lol leave the milk on over night if you can. When it curdles it is most effective. But you will stink lol xo tina

I really blend the Fresh eye cream well between ring fingers! Will do my day time routine next! xx Tina

Your skin always looks incredible. I really want to check these out. My facialist says in Chinese that I have “thin skin”. Do you think Biologique Recherche P50 1970 is still worth trying if my skin isn’t very thick? I can’t wait to check the Vinter’s Daughter out. I wonder how many uses I can get out of this bottle.
    Thanks for sharing, Tina!

    Xo,
    Miki

    • February 22, 2017 / 8:17 pm

I have really thin skin as well! Start P50 maybe 3 days a week? And don’t soak cotton pads as mask like I do. Find a spa that carries it and go try it before purchasing. xx Tina

    Do you use the
    P50 or the P50-1970?

    • February 23, 2017 / 12:50 pm

I have used both, currently using P50 PIGM400 for pigmentation. I find that my skin reacts well when I change things up every few months! x Tina

    Hi Tina,

Do you put a moisturizer on after using Vintner’s Daughter? Or simply just these 3 steps?
Also when will you be posting your daytime routine? I bought everything from your evening routine as your skin is amazing!!

    Thank you

    • March 1, 2017 / 1:44 pm

      Hi Julia,
I don’t use a night cream after Vintner’s Daughter regulary, but when I feel extra dry or am traveling, I’ll do a bit on my cheek and forehead area. xo ps- day time routine is coming, it’s more complicated because there is more protection involved!

Hi Tina- is it okay to jade roll if you have fillers (just a tiny bit above cheekbone, to hide under eye sagging ;))?? I bought one- and have started to use it! But I’m scared it will also roll my filler away.

    • March 14, 2017 / 1:00 pm

Hi Ami, I am not sure as I don’t do fillers, best to ask your doctor! xx Tina

Which eye cream do you use? I have pretty set wrinkles and need extra mositure, although I am only in my mid 30s!

    • March 14, 2017 / 1:01 pm

I use FRESH creme anciennes! For deeper wrinkles you should also have a glycol based exfoliating serum – Natura Bisse has one. x Tina

You look stunning! Wow ! Going to try your recos. Have you heard or tried the Hanacure? It’s a Korean facial mask. Just ordered it to try it based on a celebrity’s recommendation

    Hi tina!
I love all of your posts and you have amazing skin and I am trying to find products that work! My skin tends to be more on the sensitive side so I am wondering if these products would irritate my skin. Let me know what you think. Xx

    • April 4, 2017 / 12:33 pm

Hi Lea, the only one I would worry about is the P-50 lotion but they have a sensitive skin option! Vintner’s daughter is amazing on sensitive skin! x Tina

Hi Tina! I’ve been using P50 for a few months now and decided to try the 20 min mask with product like you suggested. I had it on for barely ten mins but it ended up making my skin really red and inflamed and created brown spots (kinda of like a minor curling iron burn). I was wondering if this happened the first you did this or if you have any advice on how to fix it! Thank you!!

    • April 21, 2017 / 10:39 am

Oh no! I didn’t have that reaction though my skin did get very red afterwards- I used a cooling gel mask that took it away. Have you talked to a dermatologist? So you’ve never had this reaction? Did you have clean skin or did you have another product on your face that would cause a reaction used with P50? I would use Aquaphor for now and call your dermatologist! Keep me posted! x Tina

Does Vitner’s daughter act a moisturizer? Or do I still put on my La Mer after Vitner’s daughter?

    • July 19, 2017 / 12:42 am

I don’t put on anything after Vintner’s! But you can if you live in extremely dry weather. xx Tina

What moisturizer do you use? Or are you recommending Vintners as a moisturizer?

Yes it’s an oil blend! I use it as night moisturizer xx Tina
