totally unique Valentine’s Day buys

Maybe it’s because I spent so many Valentine’s Days alone or working (NYFW always ends up falling on V-Day) but my favorite part about the holiday is always giving my close friends something I know they’ll appreciate. This is especially true this year because so many of my friends have found themselves newly single and feeling down in the dumps about it (instead of going out with my husband – who actually won’t be in NYC – I’m doing a girl’s dinner!). Checkout some fun buys below that would work just as well for a significant other as they would a close friend and please share what you’ll be gifting or doing this year!

Yourlixir was fittingly started by two friends. They make superfood powders – think matcha or turmeric – but what makes them standout is not only their quality, but that their products are made in single-use pouches (the big bag has a lot of small bags inside) so you don’t have powder flying all over the place or have to worry about bugs crawling around because a big bag isn’t properly sealed. They’re also constantly launching new products and have amazing social media content to give ideas as to what to make with their super powders.

Printed TP makes custom toilet paper rolls for about $50 or you can get pre-printed ones for under $10, like the one above. It doesn’t get any better to make someone smile!

I’m obsessed with APL sneakers, but there’s a new brand in town looking to overthrow them: Lane Eight. Like APL, the company was started by two brothers and their sneakers have a standout design that you immediately recognize. The style they launched with has knitted detailing for a sock-like fit and it’s a cross-trainer so you can use it for anything from bootcamp to Tracy Anderson. It might be cheesy, but I was sent a pair of these and then bought one for my husband so we could go to the gym in “his and her” kicks. I have a pretty high arch and he has a flat foot and we both find them comfortable.

Lululemon teamed up with SoulCycle for a limited edition collection and if there’s one thing all my girlfriends will appreciate, it’s the To The Beat Duffel lululemon X SoulCycle ($198). There are so many pockets and zippers that it’s actually easy to find all your stuff and you can keep your stinky, dirty items (like shoes and sweaty clothes) separate from all your other goods. Plus the black makes it blend it to any outfit.
