I’m a spray tan addict, but they’re expensive, time consuming, and don’t last very long for all the effort and cost that goes into them. I’m always on the look-out for a good self-tanner, but till recently I didn’t actually find one that I would opt for over a spray tan for a special event. I’ve got two amazing ones to tell you about!
First up: St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse. Trust me when I say I have zero patience and no eye for detail, which what you usually need to avoid looking like an orange when it comes to self-tanners. Using the brand’s tanning mit I apply this mousse in a few seconds on my arms, lower back, and chest and it near instantly dries. Depending on how dark you want your tan you leave it on for 1-3 hours. I’m pale and usually do 2 hours and the tan still looks natural (even though I don’t apply it on my face)…it’s not only totally NOT orange, the quick-drying time is pain-free. I put on a robe and don’t find that the color transfers off all that much. It has a tropical-like smell. My husband loves it (he didn’t realize it was self-tanner). I’ve been applying it two days in a row and then waiting 3-4 days before applying it again. I’m so pale and I gotta say that bit of color really boosts my confidence. Note that while you might notice some color right away, it takes a few hours to fully develop.
Another one worth singling out is their Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion. I’m traveling right now so I haven’t had the chance to get my hands on this yet, but based on my amazing results with the Express I can’t wait to (plus it has great reviews online). This one is even more convenient because you apply it in-shower and wait just three minutes before you can rinse it off. Another one I would be curious to try but am a bit afraid is this no-rinse product. It looks perfect for the face…I’m just afraid of breaking out from the oils. St. Tropez please come out with an oil-free product I can use on my pale, pale face!
