’90s Looks on Current “It” Girls

'90s Looks on Current "It" Girls

The ’90s were a lot of fun, plain and simple. It was definitely an interesting decade: We had learned from the mistakes of the ‘80s but maintained enough of the residual carefree attitude to have a great time, especially when it came to dressing. Kelly and I wore high-waisted jeans with all of our tops – and in my case, bustiers, aka bras disguised as tops (and I use the word “disguise” loosely). Nineties style was relaxed yet high in edge and attitude, and it’s clear not much has changed now that the era has long passed; the trends are back in full effect, especially for today’s most in-demand “it” girls. The same goes for the sounds. From Nirvana to Tori Amos, I still love ’90s music. Here’s a tribute to our sonic youth:

1. Kendall Jenner
Kendall proves she can work casual all-black with Winona Ryder-level prowess, elevating her skin-tight, scoop-neck top and mid-rise jeans with updated cowboy boots, a hardware-heavy belt to break things up, and this season’s throwback-turned-must-have accessory: a choker.

Much like the gorgeously bodacious supermodels who preceded her, Gigi knows how to work a classic neutral look. The turtleneck, the shades of camel, and the washed-out mom jeans: It’s all ’90s and it’s all working.

3. Bella Hadid
Gigi’s sensual little sister tends to take more fashion risks, even if they’re only in the details. You might not notice the ’90s references in Bella’s easygoing look at first glance, but between her chenille sweater (by Alexander Wang, a fellow lover of the decade) and her low-top Doc Martens, complete with kooky socks, she nailed it.

4. Hailey Baldwin
There’s nothing like a totally fuss-free anti-outfit to remind us that less can really be more. In Hailey’s case, she proves less on top, by way of a cropped halter, and more on bottom, via breezy, wide-leg trousers, is best, at least when it comes to laid-back dressing.

I love that the 90’s are back (I’m kicking my self for letting my husband talk me into getting rid of my chunky heeled shoes) and the anything goes attitude about style is so fun. I have to say though…I’m just not a fan of the choker…
