Besides the obvious – friends, family, food, and travel – my favorite way to celebrate any holiday is with a festive gel manicure (including Halloween where it’s my hack because I hate costumes!). While some years I’ll go all out, this year I was looking for something more subdued that I could get away with wearing a solid two weeks, which is why I brought in the below image from Karla Morales when I went to have my gel manicure done. It’s patriotic, but easily something you could wear long after the weekend’s barbecues are done.
A festive eye look is another great way to approach the celebratory weekend (week!?).
“For the Fourth of July, you see a lot of red lips, blue eyeshadow, and American flags. I’m into allll of this, but I feel like when it comes to makeup and holidays, it doesn’t have to be so on the nose,” Chanel Temple, Hourglass’ Global Makeup Artist, told me. “I like taking inspiration from the holiday and doing something more polished. I love this eye look for the 4th – it captures the idea of light on the eyes, playing off the theme of glittering fireworks. This is an easy way to add pop to the eye, but also keeps it simple. I used Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow in Foil on the lid, but also brought it under the lower lash line to create some drama. Then I applied our Caution Extreme Lash Mascara which lifts and separates to give the look of faux lashes. Keep the skin glowy and add a clear gloss or neutral shade on the lips to let your eyes be the focus.
Will you be going for a themed beauty look this 4th of July?
