Rose quartz may be my favorite on-trend color that’s always tempting me, especially as of late, but like a pretty appetizer instead of a robust meal, I still easily tire of lightweight colors of little substance. That’s why black is my mainstay entrée.
Enter my three “serious” staples for the current season. I saw stars when I first laid eyes on Saint Laurent’s firework-embellished satin bomber jacket. I wanted it at full price, but I’m happy I held off. I ended up getting it on sale for 70% off at Forty Five Ten. Trust I was so excited to find it marked waaaay down. Alaïa’s cut-out brogues are new for Spring 2016 (they’re already sold out on NET-A-PORTER, but there’s a single pair miraculously left on THE OUTNET!), and they also happen to be classic – and sturdy – enough to last a lifetime. Rounding out the trio is J.W. Anderson’s Moon bag in patent leather. This brilliantly designed piece of wearable modern art can be worn as a top-notch top handle or a more casual crossbody. These are the anchor pieces you’ll need with spring’s flirty colors. It’s all about balance, after all. And speaking of balance, I’ve rounded up some budget-friendlier standouts too…
