All that glittered at the VMAs

The VMA’s quickly whizzed by last week and I think you’ll agree it was all about Jennifer Lopez, who was officially declared MTV legend. In age-defying style, J.Lo (who is proudly forty-nine) bopped through her famous pop acts better than most twenty year olds – which is an achievement unto itself #jlogoals!!

These kind of events are notoriously thin on bag pics, though. Most celebs can’t or won’t be weighed down by exertion in the way of clasping or clutching…anything, at least for photo ops. On these nights, their only directive is to have fun and look fab. It’s not clear to me why celebs choose to discriminate their poor bags out of photo shots; don’t they want to be snapped looking more fabThat’s one of life’s mystery I’ll just have to deal with.

Check out our rundown of the best looks on the VMA red carpet!

Jennifer Lopez

Stalvey Lizard Top Handle 2.0, $4,800
Versace might not be my favorite thing in the world but…it’s JLO and she can pretty much wear what she damn well pleases! Love that she juxtaposed with a low key structured bag by Stalvey, an American luxury brand that specializes in luxurious American-made exotic bags. Definitely a designer to watch for you bag snobs.

Nicky Hilton

Oscar de la Renta Orb Crystal Embroidered Velvet Clutch Bag, $1,990.00

Nicky is seen arriving to the ceremony with an Oscar de la Renta glistening orb clutch, which was the perfect topper to her youthful glam girl look.

Karlie Kloss

Judith Leiber Couture Clutch

Karlie Kloss knows how to do a good red carpet look, and this is a counting demonstration of it. She’s wearing a form fitting stunner by Elie Saab with a matchy clutch by red carpet specialist, Judith Leiber.

Audrina Patridge

The Ex reality star from The Hills and The City made an appearance at the VMA’s and reunited with former cast members Spencer and Heidi Pratt. It made us nostalgic for the OG days otherwise known as the simple life of reality TV.

Hayley Kiyoko

Rising star Hayley Kiyoko received a Push Artist of the Year award, which is a new MTV category awarding burgeoning artists. I must confess I had never heard of Hayley before this, but I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of this young talent.

Cardi B

Rap darling Cardi B turned up the heat in post baby body and looks in stunning form.  I don’t mind the dangerously high slit, even though I’m sure some were jaw-gaping appalled. But considering her predecessors (Lil Kim’s nipple fringe) I’d say she looks perfect for the occasion considering she just pushed a little human out of her.

The American Singer/Songwriter was a contender for the Push Artist for Year Award, which was awarded to Hayley Kiyoko. But in our book, she’s a winner in that Rodarte dress!

Kylie Jenner

Stalvey Alligator Top Handle 2.0, $12,500

My favorite look of the night was Kylie Jenner’s suiting style by Tom Ford. The youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan caused a bit of an internet stir because she looked bored during Jlo’s epic performance for the night but considering she’s a new mama, we will give her a pass.

Jennifer Lopez

I swore I would never use this term. It’s what the youth of today would describe as ‘slaying’. In other words, she’s killing it, another term I never thought I’d use but hello, how else would you describe this?! J Lo received the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in a slinky chainmail dress (again by Versace) and SHUT IT DOWN.
