Joseph Altuzarra is one of those uncommon designers who consistently and instinctively knows what women want to wear, whether it’s shearling bomber jackets, celeb-favorite fringed hobo Ghianda bags, crinkled linen dresses, or racy laced knee-high boots. Personally, I like to attribute it to the stylish Chinese women he’s surrounded by – his mother, cousin Lily Kwang, and grandmother, who hails from Shanghai like mine. In addition to being superbly talented, Joseph is the most well-mannered boy. He’s a Chinese mama’s dream!
So naturally his latest collaboration with MATCHESFASHION.com has us all excited, especially in Dallas where they’ve been celebrating the launch with a series of chic events. The retailer is one of those rare ecommerce sites that’s about so much more than shopping the hottest brands. Not only do founders Ruth and Tom Chapman keep the site stocked with the latest and greatest the world of consumptive fashion has to offer, but they’re also doing us one better by linking up with designers to launch collections before anyone else (they offered and sold out of Vetements before many were even familiarizing themselves with the label). You know whomever the Chapmans have their eyes on is more than likely to be the next big thing, so if you want to discover the best new designers, MATCHESFASHION.com is the destination. They’re also raising the bar with collaborations you can’t get anywhere else. Like Altuzarra exclusively for MATCHESFASHION.com; the digital launch even comes coupled with video of Joseph talking through the collection. I couldn’t be more excited!
The capsule line of five distinct striped dresses in a classic palette of primarily black, white, and red is brilliantly edited. If you’ve never worn an Altuzarra dress, you are truly missing out on one of fashion’s great pleasures! These ones in particular are good enough to make you want to wear stripes all spring and summer long. A black and gold-threaded cocktail staple for evening is particularly covetable. Nab all five, and you’ve got the perennial dress wardrobe.
As Ruth and Tom continue their mission to meld the digital with the physical, they are currently touring the U.S. with can’t-miss trunk shows. Up next: my very own Dallas, Texas! Today I’ll be hosting sweet Joseph at Rosewood Mansion from 2 – 7 pm at a pop-up shop featuring his MATCHESFASHION.com-exclusive dresses (the shop will also be open on Friday from 10 am – 7 pm). The online retailer’s MyStylist and Private Shopping teams will even be on hand as you peruse their latest vacation and event dressing edit. If you’re not in the Dallas area, everyone is invited to shop the digital trunk show as of today – and you know it’s going to sell out faster than you can say “little striped dress.”
