After years of unrelenting variations on the Le Dix motorcycle bag, it was about time Balenciaga embraced their minimal side. Who knew it would look so good? This shoulder bag is my favorite from their Padlock line – by comparison, this top-handle tote is way too bulky and not to mention, a bit too doctor-ish.
But the simple flap shoulder style is a different story. Hot without being neon, this bleu lavende shade with bright blue stitching is incredible! Black-lacquered gold-plated hardware and grainy, almost veiny calfskin add Balenciaga-style edge to an already pumped-up color. Even the always-useful leather-framed mirror and paneled shoulder strap look brand-new on this breath-of-fresh-air satchel. At 9” wide by 7.5” tall, the padlock bag is about the same size as the Céline box, but it’s a tiny fraction of the price. With spunky details and a Techicolor shade, it’s also softer and less serious. At Balenciaga for $1,595. What do you think of it?
