Can truffle actually have benefits for your hair?

I went to a launch event a few weeks ago for the Black Truffle Hair Care Collection from Moroccan Gold. It was at the gorgeous new John Barrett Salon in NYC (the one that used to be at Bergdorf Goodman). Unfortunately the event involved the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten in my life (literally the WORST! I’m talking the right side of my head having hair inches – yes inches – shorter than the left), but on the positive side, despite that awful experience, I fell in love with the new woodsy-scented range. I’m hardcore about my Kerastase and Fekkai products (especially their new Pure Collection), but the truffle line smells aaaamazing. Just as good as the two other brands…maybe even better. I love the spray pictured above. I’ve been applying it on damp hair and combing it through and it leaves my hair smelling and feeling great while taming frizz (and no residue). The only item in the collection I wouldn’t recommend is the oil as it leaves hair greasy and it will force you to wash your hair (or at least that was my experience when the stylist at John Barrett dumped what felt like the whole bottle on my hair…).

As for the star ingredient in the range, black truffle, it’s not all marketing fluff. Truffles have nutrient-dense essential fatty acids that are great for hair (and skin!). They also work to penetrate (vs coat) so a little will go a long way. And don’t be thrown by the black look of these products…nothing applies black!
