The latest generation of Céline’s “it” bag is none other than the plainly titled “Tie.” Don’t expect to see a total revamp of their sought-after (and now somewhat ubiquitous) Trapeze and Luggage totes; it’s something of a hybrid of the two, thanks to its flamboyantly flared gusset and emphasized handle fasteners. But the details make it special – and just plain make it. Casually knotted handles and an all-around softer structure add up to a most fun and whimsical bag that packs distinction to boot.
I jumped on the Céline Luggage tote early on, but I crashed and burned just as quickly, mainly because I don’t like bags that resemble faces (I mean look at this and tell me you don’t see a face with a drooling tongue out of its mouth. Once you see it, you can’t un-see it!). No dangling zipper pull in sight, the Tie bag, on the other hand, is clean, without a single mockery to be discerned. The (optional) belted-strap closure adds that extra element of emphasis, while remaining ultra-functional all the while. It’s the best of both worlds. Yes, the bag is plain, but it’s so well-designed, who cares? I certainly don’t. It’s all in the details! Inquire at Céline for purchase.
