Chanel Shoulder Pouch Bag

I remember receiving my first Chanel bag when I was 21 years old, it was the classic 2.55 in black lambskin with gold chain link and I felt so grown up whenever I used it. Looking back at college photos however, I looked like a little girl using her mother’s bag (and gorgeous as the bag was, I looked really silly carrying it. Kelly was into fanny packs- a word that is not even in my bag vocab and shouldn’t have been in hers but at least she looked age appropriate- I should scan that photo to give you some laughs). Now had this Chanel shoulder pouch been available back then, my bag would have been as hip and young as my wardrobe! I love everything about this bag, the aged calfskin, the cute little ruffled pouch in front and the soft shape(without being too slouchy). The signature Chanel chains are there but in a youthful gun metal color and with a leather shoulder rest so you don’t get those painful marks on your shoulder. This is truly one of the most adorable Chanel bags ever made and perfect for the girl who loves to glam up a classic with a bit of street edge! This has been out for a while so you’ll need to do some serious sleuthing to find it. Call Alexis at Chanel for availablity 214-520-1055 $1,805 (920 pounds)

Interesting question you pose there Bag Snob (s). At what age is it appropriate to start comporting yourself with a bag that doesn’t look like you’re toting mother’s around with you?!?!

This is a big issue for us- Age appropriate-ness of bags. We’re not into middle aged women carrying brightly colored Juicy Couture bags with charms dangling all over it but 19 year olds with Hermes birkins are certainly not acceptable either.

This is why I love this Chanel pouch bag, it’s for the young Bag Snob who wants to have a nice classic bag but still look her age.

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on Age appropriate-ness of bags!

I think Chanel bags are lovely and classic but I’ve never really found one that has struck a chord with me… exactly because of that whole Age-appropriate issue. I’m 21 and I think need to wait a few years before I start carrying a bag like the 2.55. This bag however…is definitely me!It’s fabulous. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I agree with the age appropriate issue. I’ll be 21 this summer and although Chanel’s are classic, I don’t think most would be age appropriate for me. The only Chanel I have found that suited me(aside from the posted above of course!)is the Chanel round bowling that I had a very hard time tracking down after BagSnob posted it a few months ago. I have a feeling I would have the same problem with tracking down this beauty as well…Guess I’ll probably have to wait a few more years!

I am 27 and I have a few of the Chanel bags and the most recent one I got was in November. It is the rectangular shopping tote from the Modern Chain collection and it is in the grey distressed leather. It is young enough (because of the distressed leather and the silver chain) and still classic (in the shape of the bag). The leather is the perfect shade of grey because it is taupey enough to go with brown and obviously looks great with black too. And it is lined with black leather which I love. I hate crappy linings.

I couldn’t agree more re age appropriate bags. I’m a lot older than 21, and I avoid anything that looks too twee if you know what I mean. No Juicy Couture, no Coach or D&B logo bags, no new Luella (although I do love the Gisele which I got in black patent not the candy pink). That’s another thing; color. The older you get, the less wild your bag should be. So let’s just say mine are getting very very neutral.
