It’s a perfect symphony when Derek Lam joined forces with former NYCB ballerina and current jewelry designer Jamie Wolf for a collection honoring the New York City Ballet, inspired by famed choreographer George Balanchine. This perfect match gives way to jewels that mix the softly melodic ease of ballet with an unmistakable brand of New York City edge (and 20% of the proceeds go towards the organization Wolf used to call home).
I recently met Jamie through a friend and instantly fell head over heels with her work. I purchased this custom piece sight unseen, and it is now the single most special piece of jewelry I own. The letter C stands for the boy’s name, my maiden name, my grandmother’s name, and my married name. Now it’s only natural that I have my eye on the Derek Lam collaboration, as he’s a designer I’ve been gratefully calling a brother for years. My favorite pieces come out of the Themes and Variations, as well as the Vienna Waltzes lines, which both feature sterling silver, black rhodium, and sprinklings of diamonds. If you are near Bergdorf Goodman, you must stop by Jamie’s counter. I bet you won’t leave without something sparkly.
Vienna Waltzes bangles, $790 for a set of two, Vienna Waltzes earrings, $990, Themes and Variations ring, $820, Themes and Variations earrings, $2,050, and Themes and Variations cuff bracelet, $1,890, all available at Jamie Wolf.
