Dior Hermitage Shopper: Snob or Slob?

diorhermitage.jpg

I wasn’t sure what this was supposed to be but a ruched tube top gone bad at Dior seems to be the inspiration of this mess they call the Hermitage bag. It has been a long and dry spell at Dior since the uber popular saddle bag. Even SJP shunned its bags in the SATC movie– though the Dior extreme shoes she wore throughout were absolutely brilliant (which I also have in black but I saw them on eLuxury way before the movie came out!). This bag may have the deceiving silhouette of a lady like top handle bag but is in fact 16.5″ x 11.75″– which is huge yet they call this the medium size! Galliano is one of my faves when it comes to ready to wear and haute couture but Dior bags of late? Not a chance. Dior Hermitage bag $2385 at eLuxury. But maybe I am too harsh on this thing, what do you think of this super ruched Hermitage shopper? Snob or Slob?

Didn´t expect anything like this from Dior. Even the purple ,which is normally one of my favorites, has an awful shade here. Fyi fan,as a swede would say.

I always know when it is your entry Tina. Its always about how ahead you are or how great your taste is or how chic you are etc etc.

Fully agree with you Tina – Dior hasn’t had a remotely attractive bag in a loooooong while.

    hideous bag. slob!

Slob. The proportion is all wrong. If it were half as long, it would actually be kinda cute (I would still not buy it, but some people might, just based on the brand/logo thing)

I agree with you T…the bag is YIK!!

I also saw those DEVINE Dior shoes on eLuxury way b4 the movie came out, I am 5’8 so those shoes are out of the question for me…But I did email them to my girlfriend and told her she must own them. she didnt get them. now that she saw them on SJP she can kick herself for not getting them…They are sold out along with everything else seen in the movie…I have a few of the bags shown in the movie which Ive had for a long time some at least a year, now you cant find them anywhere since the movie came out…Its MADNESS!!! how that happens…

    How the Vacay going?!?

I vote slob! I agree with most of you…Dior hasn’t come out with a decent bag since the super chic Saddle Bag. The eggplant color, the ruching and the braided line in the middle and the proportion of this handbag is a disaster! The red-plated CD does not help either. In addition to that, the price? $2385? I don’t think so. The name of the bag-Dior Hermitage does not suit this one. Coming from a Fashion House like Christian Dior is a dissappointment. Slob!

Dior is sort of like LV in that I think they tried to cash in after the logo craze early in the millennium by putting out a million bags. When LV did this, for some reason, the bags were popular and sold, which is infuriating. It seems like Dior bags are not selling. There are just too many without a cohesive design. For this price range, I honestly would go with Fendi. Although, I have seen Carla Bruni-what’s-her-face with the Babe Small Shopping bag (I think that’s what it’s called) and it looks good on her, but I think only her. I mean, just a hop over to eluxury and the ethnic large hobo bag (that terrible thing with the heart and large stitching) which you reported on forever ago is still there. I still think they can come out with that one bag, like the saddle or the Lady Dior, to get our hearts pumping again, but man, these are all just going nowhere.

Ugh,the saddle bag was just awful in my opinion, the only Dior bag I tolerate is Lady Dior which is an ultimate classic, the rest is just in your face logo or weird design with ridiculous price tag.

    Tina,

I’ve taken note of your color overdose, as well as the negative on all too much ruching. I have been eyeing the Tod’s aqua/black python tote, which will go on the second sale next week at Neimans. There is ruching along both sides, but I think it’s cool. However, the color may be too loud at this point. What are your (or any other’s) thoughts.

    Thanks, as always…

it’s like what they call on “go fug yourself” a “scroll-down fug.” it looks cute at the top and then it you go down and it’s like no… stop… oh god.

    Hi Sue!

Okay, just arrived back to apartment in Paris after a night of champagne… so I’m going to be honest with you (but then again, when am I not?)

Stay away from the aqua and black python ruched Tod’s. I don’t mind the slight ruching as much as i mind the color. there is a nude python in the same shape, fabulous.

I bought the most delicious bag today. It’s not Hermes nor any of my usual brands. You’ll have to wait until I have time to load it up to see 🙂 I’m so excited about it because the color is a dark gun metal gray that looks black at night but dark gray in the day.. superb!

Am having too much fun to work, so please be patient and bear with me.

The tour at Louis Vuitton’s original home was incredible, wait until you see! xoxo

This does absolutely nothing for me. It’s so… dull. If anything, it takes away from the good name of Dior with such a frumpy and unappealing bag. Looks like something my aunt keeps her knitting needles in…
