Fendi is celebrating the launch of their new boutique on New Bond Street in London in a most creative and generous way. Ten instantly-iconic Peekaboo bags have been conceived and created by ten already-iconic women, each one for silent auction in an effort to benefit Kids Company.
Fendi’s Peekaboo bags are the epitome of easy chic, and they are even more inspiring now that they’ve been infused with the unique styles of global tastemakers. Adele’s cheeky, stud-decked smiling face is one my favorites! Clearly, she doesn’t take herself took seriously and knows how to have fun with fashion. Renowned architect Zaha Hadid layered black leather panels to gorgeously severe, geometric effects – then topped the bag with elements of black pony hair.
To update her dusty pink Peekaboo, English journalist Kate Adie imbued her interior with a burst of vibrant camouflage print in beaded embroidery, while actress (and Bond girl) Naomie Harris made sure hers comes with a great message. She adorned a map of Africa with 3D butterflies, then punctuated the bag with three powerful words: truth, love, and freedom.
Would you expect anything less than crisp white alligator from queen of Goop Gwyneth Paltrow? This one’s so polished and classic, it will be a test to not carry it. The same goes for Jerry Hall’s sexy, seductive take, in cherry-red croc. With elements inspired by Chinese culture, like a green jade handle, this piece is close to my heart.
Artist and fashion illustrator Tanya Ling made hers particularly personal, with a silk-screened image of one of her signature painting motifs: the figure of a woman. And finally, there’s the duo of young British supermodels: Georgia May Jagger paid homage to photography and music, two of her passions, with a sequined-covered recreation of a photo she took and a purple python interior inspired by Prince’s Purple Rain! Last but not least, it seems only appropriate that Cara Delevingne paid funky, graffiti-inspired homage to the idea of a superwoman with her playful take.
If there’s one you want to collect (and you have a big chunk of change to spare), the auction is still going on now!
