Frugal Friday: Black on Black Label

Frugal Friday

No matter which year or season it is, fashion’s perennial favorite uniform will always be all black. It’s as sure as the sun rising each day, or Anna Wintour’s sleek bob. And this is not just because black flatters everyone, but because of the easy, cool factor it guarantees. Though the look feels luxe, there’s no need to spend a fortune.

Three years ago, Chico’s launched their Black Label, a collection of limited-edition pieces that this fall is defined by faux leather accents, vibrant metallics, and bold patterns. I love a good Frugal Snob discovery and was excited when they reached out to collaborate on a style shoot. It was pleasantly surprising to see how elevated these pieces are. Just look at this chiffon lace top ($129 at Chico’s). It’s like YSL in the Tom Ford days! A leather collar and pin tucked bell sleeves add a sense of sophistication that paired with a Rag & Bone fedora, sleek Proenza skirt, Hermès Medor clutch, and my old faithful Prada platforms made for the perfect uptown ensemble.

The gold studded Black Label jacket ($189 at Chico’s) was pure ‘80s solid gold glam. Pulling out my vintage Chanel belt was a no-brainer, then going really wild with the studs, I added a Joomi Lin collar and Vita Fede rings and earrings. This jacket is one of those versatile you will literally wear every day kind– with anything from jeans to a little black dress.

For an effortless and stylish daily uniform, I found the below pieces that will work seamlessly with any wardrobe:

Chico’s Black Label Trimmed Knit Top (at Chico’s for $99)

Chico’s Black Label Ponte Slim Ankle Pant (at Chico’s for $109)

Chico’s Black Label Bib Necklace (at Chico’s for $129)

Black is NOT FOR EVERYONE… I was taught that many years ago…If I put on Black, I look DEAD.

Likewise if I were to wear White, I look ghostly white…..Skin Tone dictates the colors that suit us.
