The day after New York Fashion Week wrapped I tore myself out of bed and made my way to the LVMH building where Givenchy’s international makeup artist Dominique Lehongre and the Givenchy beauty team unveiled the latest Givenchy holiday collection. Aside from Gloss Interdit in Vintage Ruby I didn’t get to try the colors myself, but Lehongre used the newest shades on a blogger in attendance to demonstrate their vibrancy and ease of application. Givenchy is clearly banking on the red trend we’ve been seeing so much of (case in point the fabulous vampy lips at Gucci!), to attract buyers. Even the Vintage Ruby gloss is intensely pigmented with a high-gloss, glass-like finish.
Red lips can be intimating so when asked Lehongre said that to pull them off, natural eye makeup, foundation (if you’re hesitating between two shades, go with the lighter one, as women tend to apply foundation that is too dark for their skin), groomed eye brows, and lots of mascara are musts. Jump for descriptions of what is in the collection and close-up views of the vintage-inspirited packaging!
This looks heavier than it is. The vintage touch comes via the Hubert de Givenchy signature on the mirror.
The collection includes: Rouge Interdit lipstick in Vintage Carmine, a
creamy blue-based red; Gloss Interdit lipgloss in Vintage Ruby, a glossy red; Vernis Please nail lacquer in dark burgundy;
Phenomen’Eyes mascara in vintage bronze; Le Prisme Yeux eyeshadow quad
in black and silver (pictured below), and Le Prisme Collector Sparkling Powder (pictured above).
The collection is launching next month exclusively at Sephora.com and
GivenchyBeauty.com and prices range from $15 to $60.
