As expected, crocodile birkins ruled the runway at Hermes this fall. What was unexpected, however, were the fencing masks that resembled dog muzzles on the models. Perhaps Jean Paul Gaultier is trying to make “Fencing” the new “Equestrian” at Hermes. Whatever the reason, we doubt Hermes clients will be wearing this look to Cipriani’s, at least we hope not. Theatrics aside, we loved everything else in the collection. Gaultier filled the season with flirty cropped furs and shearling capes, elegant lambskin dresses, flowing chiffon dresses luxuriously lined in lace, and impeccably tailored suits and slim skirts. As always, the House of Hermes adheres to classic pieces rather than following trend. You can’t go wrong with any of these beautifully made clothes.
Perhaps they are trying to keep the models from eating so they can fit into these outfits.
