My mother is always telling me to go for the best. If I’m sick – go to the best doctor – if I’m looking for a new bag, shoe, coat – whatever – get something that’s quality that will last and so on and so on. When it comes to herself, however…crickets. She will suffer for MONTHS (or more) before seeing a doctor; she almost never splurges on herself, and there’s pretty much no scenario in which she doesn’t put herself last. I try to pamper her whenever I can because she deserves it, but she’s rarely open to it. In fact, I often will tell her I got something as gift or she won’t take it. I’ll sign her up for cooking classes or personal training sessions and lie about the price because again, she would never partake if she knew what I was actually spending. My guess is your mom is very similar because many good moms are this way. Whatever the case I’ve rounded up some ideas that might inspire pampering on this special day!
First up, there’s nothing my mom appreciates more than having her gray hairs covered up! To that end Warren Tricomi Salons are offering a special promo for all mothers. Book any service the week of Mother’s Day and, in addition to being pampered and styled, mom will receive a free full-size Warren Tricomi shampoo and conditioner goodie bag. On that note I just want to quickly point out that while the salons are best known for hair, Warren Tricomi has some of the best brow stylists in NYC (they also do brow and lash tinting). These services don’t take long and make a huge difference.
The healthy kitchen gadget of the moment is the air fryer and for once it’s not an over-hyper, useless item that will just be taking up room in your kitchen. More impressively still you don’t need to splurge to get a good one. The Ultrean Air Fryer is just $60 and works great. And it’s not just for crisping up potatoes with less or no oil, you can throw salmon or any other protein you would heat in a non-stick pan for a quick and easy meal. It’s also easy to clean since you can throw the detachable basket in the dishwasher.
I have a lot of friends that are pregnant and most of them have been having a pretty tough time. Morning sickness, constant tiredness, and just overall feeling gross. Of course given the struggles with fertility that I’ve written about on a number of occasions here I can only hope one day to be so lucky, but I still want to go out of my way this Mother’s Day to treat some of my fave moms-to-be with something that will make them feel better about themselves. Show Me Your Mumu has some of the cutest maternity items I’ve seen and they’ve got everything from tees to bathing suits to rompers. Plus their cool-Cali vibe is perfect for summer.
There’s nothing more valuable than Mom’s health. I push my mother constantly to workout. As I mentioned in the intro I often hire a trainer for her (she’ll do it for a few sessions and then come up with an excuse to stop but I don’t let up!). I recently was sent a sample of the above outfit and I love it. I’ll say I only have the confidence to wear it post spray tan, but it moves great and has just the right amount of compression for it to be comfortable but hold everything “in place.” While Mom might not have the confidence to rock leopard (or maybe she does!) Onzie has a number of on trend, perfect-for-summer prints and they’re not as expensive as most popular athleisure brands.
Lastly, you can never go wrong with something sweet! Sugarfina has a ton of options designed specifically for Mother’s Day, including the candy trunk pictured at the top of this post. You can pick and choose what sweets you want to have included. I would give this trunk in tandem with a workout outfit because as mentioned…life may be about balance, but health first!
