Is it me or does Sara Michelle Geller look like a dwarf carrying this Lanvin Kentucky tote? If you’re only 62 inches tall, you should not carry a bag that’s a third of your height and dragging down to your ankles. This is a bag made for glamazons like Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz. Sara Michelle should have gone with the Kansas tote, it would have made her look taller and saved her from the risk of tripping over her own bag. Lanvin bags at Barneys New York.

SMG can get away with it I reckon! Looks like quite a good gym-bag to me this one or an over-nighter… perhaps she’s been a dirty little stop out!!!
My shoulders hurt looking at that chain strap!
i totally agree with you. proportion matters. i recently saw a 5 foot wee thing in line at jamba juice holding an extra large Givenchy nightingale that looked disproportionately huge on her (it looked like it was eclipsing her ankles). i wanted to hand her a pair of towering heels or a smaller bag, STAT.
I’m only 5 ft and 97 pounds, I would never be caught dead in extra large anything.
I should send you some Bag Snob cards to hand out when you see offenders 🙂

It might be a good rule of thumb to never carry a bag bigger than your chest! I keep seeing women on the streets with bags that are a 1/3 of their height. Do they not own mirrors?
Maybe it’s time to re-think what all you need to carry with you. Or could someone please explain to me why one needs to carry so much stuff? I’d like to understand this. HK
It wouldn’t be so bad if the chain weren’t there – it’d just look like another tote. It might also be the outfit, especially the sneakers, that’s causing the visual dissonance.
Remember she IS Buffy at the end of the day so she CAN do anything she likes… I’m sure Buffy needs to tote round lots of stuff with her constantly…
(UGH SMG is gorgeous!!!)
As the 5’1″ daughter of a 4’11” mother, I have to say that we short girls must beware the too-big bag – just like so many “glamazons” look a mite ridiculous with too-tiny baguette- (or similar) type bags. Proportion, proportion, proportion!
The chain doesn’t help but that bag is at least 1/3 too long for her to be carrying.
I think the size is just perfect – it isn’t so big at all – just make sure before you buy one that it isn’t too heavy when empty !!!!

I think anyone who thinks proportion matters with handbags is dumb and hung up on fashion rules which are phoney and dont apply to real style. If for what ever reason you have a lot of stuff to carry you NEED A LARGER bag. Period. Get over it people!! That’s like saying petite people only look good in skirts above their knees (another stupid inane rule!).
