Louis Vuitton’s Latest Hobo The Graceful

The Graceful in Damier Ebene canvas is how I’d like my hobo, please.

A hobo has always been a popular choice for a reason: you can chuck loads of things and it gives you the option of hoarding, or if you like to keep things in there ‘just in case’.  When a hobo comes in one of Louis Vuitton’s coated canvases, it just became two times more appealing. In particular, LV’s latest hobo- the Graceful, has been a surprise hit with the brand’s fans (but is anyone really surprised? You can cover a trash can in the iconic logo and we will line up to buy it).

At first glance, it bears a big similarity to the Delightful, both in size and shape. Where it differs in a big way is the latest update. The Graceful doesn’t have the vachetta leather trim at the top edge of the bag, which means you don’t have to worry about scuff marks or staining. An everyday bag shouldn’t be a kick to the abdomen when you detect the slightest flaw, after all.

I find that LV really got the naming of the bag right too. Consumers were likely to position the Graceful next to the Delightful in their heads. So, instead of getting something ‘delightful’, you’ll get something more refined or ‘graceful’, in the way of little touches such as LV’s trademark luggage tag and a piece of leather stitched in the middle top of the bag with it’s hallmark brand name etched. This refinement also includes pleated sides, which I presume helps with alleviating sag and bending as much as possible.

With a short 6.5 inch strap drop (MM size), that’s my only critique. How can you easily reach your arms in and access things on the go, without fumbling about? You can’t really, unless you’re quite petite. Chances are, you’d have to take it off your shoulder. There’s also the issue of slippage off the shoulder that might pose a problem for some of you (and my mum who has a particular pet hate with short shoulder straps on bags) .  This might be intentional on LV’s part though, to control how it looks on the individual. A hobo carried by the crook of the arm looks that much more sophisticated.

The Graceful comes in two available sizes (MM) and (PM), just like the Delightful. Dimensions are 16” x 12” x 4” for the MM and 16” X 11” X 5.1” for the PM. Prices are $1280 and $1440 respectively.

A question for Louis Vuitton die-hard fans: what’s your take on the latest bag?

I own this bag in the the PM size and in Monogram. I can’t believe how much I love this bag. It’s just the perfect size for every day. I get a lot of compliments on it which is funny for such a simple bag. One note, I agree about the strap. I am thinking of getting a bandouliere for it, so I can use it cross body and then have better access.

Hi. I’m thinking of getting the pm. I have only tried the MM which is little to big for me, I’m only 5”1. Have you gotten the long strap to wear crossbody . I’m reading a lot of people are saying the strap is short. . Help

I received the Graceful in the MM, the Damier Ebene for my birthday. I absolutely love this bag. It is number 7 of my LV collection. My husband also purchased the Clemence wallet for me, which makes 8 LV pieces in my collection! #LVGirl4Ever
