We all know that nostalgia has the power to tug at our emotions, especially when we recall memories from a bygone era that leaves a positive impression in our lives. That memory can latch onto experiences, people, smells, food, music, or, in my case, fashion. By far, the early aughts was, and still is my favourite fashion period to date; I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets the warm and fuzzies thinking about what people wore back then. I even have a Pinterest folder compiling all my prized images of early 2000’s inspiration so I can revive my fashion memories at a moment’s notice.
Out of all the designer brands, Fendi will always be my go-to brand for personally stoking nostalgia of this era. Even with the casual trend in fashion, Fendi has kept its straps with the Fendi Baguette and Kan I short – albeit giving the choice of longer options – which in my eyes, is a defining trait of bags of this time. While petite bags with short shoulder straps aren’t terribly compatible with today’s fast lifestyle – it takes time to remove the straps out from your upper arm – it’s no hindrance to me, since I’m in no particular rush, like 85% of the time.
Where others keep walking while fetching things out of their bags, I take my dear old time locating my items even it it means I have to find a nearby bench. At the end of the day, it’s a personal choice based on your personality, lifestyle or both. Or, it could be the nostalgic effect that’s getting you deliriously hooked on short-strap shoulder bags. If that’s the case, I have canvased some options for you!
