Although I just got my LAI croc tote, I am thinking I should have gotten the Nancy Gonzales that I was looking at. This tall tote is so flattering when on, I know that sounds weird to say about a bag but the elongated shape looks so great going down the side of the body. I also love the scalloped pleated details to give the plain tote some interest without getting too crazy with unnecessary accouterments. Crocs are meant to be classic and honestly if you’re spending that kind of money on a bag you want one that won’t look dated and stupid after a few years. I am weighing Nancy Gonzalez against LAI because their price and quality are comparable, although I want to say NG has a slight edge because the finishes are just a little bit tighter. The LAI tote has the stiffest most uncomfortable handles, while NG is friendlier to the skin on your shoulder. This might be a wash but NG’s croc is lighter and thinner making it easier to carry but that might be due to the quality of the skin. It is really hard to find quality when you want a bargain and I guess that is the point here. I am perfectly happy with my LAI, it does it’s job but it is certainly not my favorite bag. I use it as my work bag, it is super sturdy and the size is perfect. I guess if I bought a $30G Chanel croc I would feel guilty throwing my laptop and magazines in there.
