So excited to share the new Nancy Gonzalez Spring 2011 bags with you guys (coming soon to Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus!)– as per usual, Nancy offers up beautifully crafted exotic bags without any cumbersome hardware. This season, however, she’s also added funky details like multi layered flaps and exterior pockets to the line up. The classic shapes are also re-worked; a simple box shaped bag (below) now comes with long shoulder straps, so on trend yet so timeless– in other words, totally Nancy. I’m obsessed with this shoulder bag! In creamy white crocodile trimmed with pale gray, it’s the epitome of understated chic. I love that she showed so many neutral colors this season– the gray and white python hobo has Kelly’s name written all over it and the black and gray structured bag will delight her longtime fans. Of course being the colorful Colombian that she is, there are plenty of bright fun colors as well. A lime green crocodile bowler bag ($3,400 above left) will certainly perk up your wardrobe as will a juicy orange colored clutch ($2,400). And if you are still searching for the perfect iPad cover, you’ll die for the crocodile versions from Nancy has designed (jump to see).
I have to say, the recent surge of Colombian copycat bag designers (I met 3 in the last month!) have not slowed down Nancy’s stride. There is and only will be, ONE Crocodile Queen in the bag world and don’t you forget it.
If you live in Chicago– please go meet Santiago Gonzalez, Nancy’s delightful and fabulous son who launched her eponymous bag line 12 years ago. He will be making personal appearances this week and would love to help you pick out a new bag. Tell him Bag Snob sent you! He will give you a big smooch and maybe a glass of champagne if you’re nice.
FRIDAY October 1, 12:45pm – 3:00pm at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Ave in Chicago
These covers are the best! They are the book style that I’ve been asking everyone to design, and with a simple yet genius design, they will stand up by tucking one flap behind the other. The turquoise is what I’ll be ordering for myself. What about you?
