Haircare and chocolate? Apparently. It might sound odd for a brand that’s not Philosophy or a frugal drug store find, but this holiday brings Shu Uemura Art of Hair x La Maison du Chocolat. And when I say holiday, I mean it’s available now (hey, if they can sell Halloween garb in August…).
The collection includes:
- Shu Uemura x La Maison du Chocolat Blow Dry Beautifier BB Serum, $39
- Shu Uemura x La Maison du Chocolat Cleansing Oil Shampoo, $57
- Shu Uemura x La Maison du Chocolat Essence Absolue, $69
The brand is also collaborating with the famed chocolate purveyor for a line of chocolate-infused beauty products (two eyeshadow palettes, six new lipstick flavors, two lash/brow gels, and a metallic lip liner). It sounded a bit kitsch to me. I do love my chocolate, but smelling like chocolate is something I don’t typically associate with a luxury beauty brand. Shu Uemura has done it tastefully, however, with no obtrusive scents. I do wish the packaging looked a bit more luxe for the prices, but they’ve wisely chosen, at least for the hair products, to package some of their bestselling products, which makes all of the options great if you’re looking for a holiday gift alternative to wine or chocolate. Otherwise, I’m not really sure why you would pick the La Maison du Chocolat version over the classic one.
I must also say I would personally go for a box of pistachio marzipan chocolates from La Maison du Chocolat over anything, any day! Especially if it comes with a free workout session with my trainer… now that’s a winning holiday collaboration.
