Prime Time: All About that Base

Prime Time

I’m not a very loyal primer user. I’m all for a multi-step skincare and makeup routine, but it’s not something I often have time for. Primers do even your skin’s texture, though, giving you more a more flawless look with less foundation, so if you’re of the “less is more” mentality (and aren’t we all?), try to make time for primer! I even use Sunday Riley’s Effortless Breathableicon (at Sephora for $48) on its own. Since I’m in Firenze for my biannual photo shoots with Luisa via Roma, this subtly tinted number was perfect minimal makeup for the long flight over to Italy. I’ve also been trying out Zelens’ options: the Satinicon and Velveticon primers (exclusively at Barneys New York for $70 each). These don’t look as good on their own, and I wouldn’t recommend the Satin if you’re prone to oily skin, however, both work well, especially the Velvet. If you haven’t used primer before, though, start with Sunday Riley for its simplicity. Once you’re working this into your morning routine seamlessly, you can have fun exploring everything else out there!
