So this was originally going to be a Snob or Slob post, but I’m just going to assert myself and give it big, huge Slob. I became okay with Saint Laurent’s Sac du Jour, despite its obvious similarity to the Birkin; the price makes sense for that girl who wants a classic and doesn’t necessarily have the means to or desire to shell out that kind of cash for the ultimate version.
This Classic Monogramme clutch is not anything I can, in good conscience, recommend to you, though. I’m all for a fun, fruity print, but these cherries are far from enjoyable. They’re more like the cherries you’ll find on notebooks designed for 10-year-olds. Neither abstract nor artful, these cartoonish sweet things appear to have just been tossed haphazardly on the bag.
Louis Vuitton did this with Murakami, but at least their print had sense of whimsy about it. This, on the other hand, looks so lazy even the leather appears cheap. I’m just going to say it: it reads worse than a Chinatown knock off – not that I’m recommending that either. Saint Laurent cherry clutch available for pre-order at Barneys New York for $1,390 (expect delivery in April).
