Hedi Slimane‘s highly anticipated collection has finally arrived on NET-A-PORTER. This wasn’t a daring effort for the designer, but you don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make a statement. These are pieces to build your new Saint Laurent wardrobe upon. Take theclassic black tote ($1,495) – gone is the heavy Y hardware, its drama and flair being replaced by rich contrasting textures in a reversible design. The Saint Laurent logo makes a very clear statement that this is a new era for the brand, but are YSL diehards ready to leave the Chyc behind?!
Red leather duffel ($2,650) and other Saint Laurent bags available on
NET-A-PORTER.
I’m trying to give these bags a chance, but I just don’t like them. There’s no design to them, and absolutely nothing that I can see that makes them worth the exorbitant price tag. And I didn’t like the Chyc, either, which I thought looked like a bag an older woman would carry in the 1970s. The last YSL bags I liked were the Downtown and the most of the Muse variations.
If I want a minimalist bag, which I don’t mind occasionally, I’d much rather go for a classic Prada or even something by Alexander Wang (though his tend to be stupidly heavy).
The more I look at these Saint Laurent bags, the more offended I am by the pricing, and the lack of innovation or anything interesting about them.
Celine called; they’d like their designs back!!
Am so not buying any of these new YSL bags, I think I’ll shift my affections over to Givenchy instead =)
So disappointed! Mr Slimane try again…
Love these fabulous handbags!
