Not many would call into question Sarah Jessica Parker’s status as a style icon, but if there’s any doubt, just look at this quick study at her ability to effortlessly transform. Better yet, she transforms her Max Mara Whitney bag right along with her look. In celebration of opening of the new Whitney Museum in downtown Manhattan, Max Mara teamed up with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop to create a bag inspired by the building’s sleek, ribbed lines.
Naturally, SJP was in attendance at the Museum’s opening night party on April 24th, sporting a shimmering Max Mara cocktail dress, the small black version of the bag of honor in tow. Three days later, she flipped the script – and took the bag from top-handle to crossbody – while out running errands. Pairing it with an oversized Atea Oceanie blazer and juxtaposing the architectural bag against playful sweats by Lauren Moshi (on Lauren Moshi for $136), she strikes a perfect balance of structure and slouch. I don’t know anyone else who can get away with this whimsical combo. Then again, I don’t know anyone quite like Sarah Jessica! Out of the Pre-Fall ’15 collection, the Whitney bag is available at Saks Fifth Avenue in small and large.
