Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posts of late from me, I have been working on a few new projects that I plan to share with you very soon. In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed posts from Sharon and Ayla!
I’m writing today because I found myself in a major fashion rut. And I thought perhaps you’re feeling the same. I recently looked at my (bursting) closet and realized that I hate every piece of clothing I own. Not only do half the clothes no longer fit me thanks to a recent horizontal growth spurt, but I’ve also grown out of styles I used to love.
It’s obviously time for a major closet overhaul which is quite difficult for for me (I am a hoarder and have clothes from college in the 90s!). So this week, in light of the new year, I decided to go through the 50 pairs of pants I’ve owned since 1999 (yet never wear and don’t even fit into anymore) and cleared them out. It felt SO GOOD!! It was therapeutic letting go of hip hugging size 23 leather pants that won’t go up past my knees. I plan on attacking tops next, followed by dresses and jackets — though I don’t think I’ll grow out of my coats.
I’m sending most of my things to my friend’s daughter cuz not many normal adults were my size, and donating the rest. The super high end pieces I am going to send to consignment shops– if you guys love and know of any besides the Real Real and LGS that you love, please let me know.
I kept classic styles that I can still squeeze into and decided to only buy special pieces that I REALLY love/can’t live without and that I will wear more than once (so this is what aging is like, I’m so practical nowadays lol). I thought the fun part would be shopping for new things but after spending late nights looking online (I don’t shop in person much, do you?)- I realized Spring 2019 didn’t excite me at all. That is, until I stumbled across the gorgeousness that is Calvin Klein by Raf Simons (not a sponsored post). I’m sharing because I am really really excited about this collection; Raf’s last by the way. It’s all just so good! The colors, the shapes, the pleats! The pink bubble top that is also a capelet and cropped jacket to wear with skirts, over dresses and with pants/jeans! I ordered it along with the green skirt and it’s even better in person (though weirdly, it’s almost exactly the same fabric as my Oscar de la Renta birthday dress ). But that’s not all, there are other great pieces like the green polka dot top and fun-house swirly skirt! If you’re in a rut, you need to check out Calvin Klein asap. Again, this is not a sponsored post, just a rabid fan of Raf’s designs.
