Okay, we’re not even halfway through the decade, so there are certainly more trends to come! But we already spotted quite a few, ranging from vampy cutout shoes to simple ballet flats. It seems that we’ve finally learned to mix style and comfort. There’s a little something for everyone, whether you like a bird’s eye view atop skyscraper heels or prefer to stay grounded.

It’s not everyday that we see a daringly different shoe that’s actually comfortable (lobster heels, while unusual, do not qualify as even marginally sensible footwear). Leave it to Raf Simons to defy expectations. He’s come up with the season’s most sophisticated shoe. The architectural heel is like a work of art, and yet somehow it’s completely wearable and unfussy.

The ‘00s brought us leggings, the revival of skinny jeans, MK & A’s hobo look (and The Row), Stella McCartney’s environmentally-friendly fashions, and oh yeah, a new millennium! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we began wearing shoes that were…comfortable (I couldn’t bring myself to list a certain foam clog that’s since grown so shockingly common, but you know what I’m talking about).
