What comes between her and her Calvins…?

calvinad.jpg

Is this what retail marketing has come to? Remember the scandal Brooke Shields caused when nothing came between her and her Calvins? That photo now seems like it was produced by Disney compared to the latest Calvin Jeans Ad. I have always wanted a daughter but for the first time ever, I am glad I won’t have to worry about a daughter seeing this kind of commercial. Good thing it was banned because this is so inappropriate for tv I can’t believe it was made! Seriously, this is neither creative nor artistic, it’s just a bunch of naked people rubbing themselves on each other. Check out the banned commercial here.

Please watch it and tell me if I’m being a prude or if this is pornography. (Jump for more!)

From WWD:

“Calvin Klein hasn’t produced a TV commercial for its Jeans line since the Eighties — with Brooke Shields — but the brand will soon be back on the airwaves with a commercial that is so provocative it initially was banned from even late-night cable TV. The brand is used to this kind of attention — last year its steamy commercial with Eva Mendes for the Calvin Klein Secret Obsession fragrance was banned by network censors for its nudity and instead had to live online.

Steven Meisel shot the new Jeans commercial, which has a grainy quality and looks like it was produced in an old basement, with male and female models — including Anna Selezneva, Anna Jagodzinska and Natasha Poly — who aren’t wearing much more than their Calvins and are writhing around all over each other. The 15- and 30-second spots will initially be exclusive online at calvinkleinjeans.com, the home of the brand’s future U.S. e-commerce site, beginning Friday. The commercial will be the site’s main attraction until the completed site launches in the summer.”

very american apparel ad + horror film + jenna jameson.

although, come on, calvin klein already *did* this in those infamous ads in the ’90’s, except.. this time it’s video so you get to watch the action? okay… fiona apple already did *that* over ten years ago. it seems very played out and calculated. that picture is more “risque” to me than the video though, mostly just because of the way her body seems snapped back so uncomfortably.

but… who’s bought CK jeans since the ’90’s anyway :/

This is quite pornographic. Completely unnecessary and not in any way artistic or provocative. Just porn.

I want to know who in marketing or at Calvin thought this would be appropriate – or were they being cynical and looking to get banned to stir up internet buzz.

Frankly when my girls were little I threw out the tv and haven’t looked back. It’s been six years now and I when I do see tv I am shocked at how much the quality and restraint has deteriorated.

Whoa..WAY TOO RAUNCHY. What kind of image are they trying to project here? There’s no class. I think I would feel like a slut wearing their jeans after viewing this commercial. This is SO INAPPROPRIATE.
