I first heard about Transience a few years ago when they collaborated with one of favorite activewear brands, Koral, for a limited edition capsule collection of gym bags. I fell in love in love with one of the styles and still use it now occasionally to hit the gym – the one issue was that it didn’t take long for a seam at the edge of the bag to come undone, which meant that the right side of the bag lost it’s nice folded shape (something my basic sewing skills could easily fix, I just never got around to it). Nevertheless it’s spacious, easy to wash and I love that it stands upright so I was curious to see what the brand was currently offering. 2020 means resolutions and for many of us that probably includes some form being healthier. A big part of motivating to hit the gym, in my experience, is feeling confident in what you’re wearing, which is why I put as much effort into my gym look – even if it’s 6AM – as I do my day/night looks.
The Hot Pink Zip Swing Bag ($198) immediately caught my attention. In looking to put together this story I searched through everything from Net-a-Porter to Zara and couldn’t find a gym that combined fashion, function, and design that both stands out and is classic enough to wear day after day – this one, however, does it. Besides having just the right amount of neon pop it has a padded shoulder strap which I’m obsessed with because I load my bags. This one looks as though it wouldn’t withstand much but I’ve stuffed a 1.5 liter bottle of water and some groceries in addition to my gym essentials. I also love that it has a drawstring top closure to go with the gym vibe, but also keep things from falling out/getting stolen and there are interior and exterior pockets. The exterior is perfect for stashing earbuds, keys etc and, not that I recommend this, but I’ve been keeping it open and find that my small essentials are still secure.
I can’t recommend this one enough, but for some other options see below!
