YSL Muse Clutch

Kelly and I love shopping (I guess you have noticed by now), we are quite good at it and after 20 years of shopping together we are also quite efficient! From New York, Paris, LA, Hong Kong to remote cities in Southern China, no one navigates around a boutique the way we do! Today was one of those great shopping days where everything went our way and many treasures were found. We spent two hours at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills (forsaking a proper lunch and grabbing a salad in the cafe as to not waste time) and another two hours on Rodeo Dr. at our favorite boutiques, YSL, Chanel, Hermes etc.

At YSL, we found the yummiest bags on sale including an olive ostrich bag that was reduced to $3500 from $5900 (which we talked each other out of buying because it kind of resembled a load of bread). But we found a gorgeous clutch that we both had to have (it was not on sale but isn’t that always the case?)- The Muse clutch in silver/gray Tupinambi lizard skin. Everything about it is delirious perfection! The size (around 8×4), the skin (gorgeous lizard scales dyed in varying shades of silver and gunmetal gray), the perfect stitching and the iconic muse clasp (which totally makes the clutch). We talk about classic pieces all the time and I can’t think of another more classic and gorgeous clutch than this! We usually have very different tastes but this one stole both our hearts.

$1,195 (quite reasonable for an exotic skin) Call Fatima at (310) 271-4110. There are also a lot of boots and shoes on sale but if you are anything like us, you’ll probably fall in love with pieces not on sale.

    Greetings from the UK!

What an exquisite bag- Impeccable taste as always! You lucky lucky ladies. I am off to New York in a matter of weeks and wondered if you had any recommendations for shopping areas in general for good quality, mid to high-end priced goodies? Any advice on nice shopping malls/areas or just places which may not be as crowded as others (or both!) would be greatly appreciated!

Keep up the great work with this site! I am a bag addict myself and love to read the daily musings of such experienced bag shoppers.

I’m in love again! I think this will also have to be mine. Great price, too. I love lizard second to snakeskin.

Zara, you are going to New York at the best and very busiest time. I think best shopping is 5th Ave. and Madison. However, the time you will be there will be very busy due to holidays. Shopping at Saks and Bergdorf’s will be fabulous due to sales. Also all boutiques will be in sale at this time. Have a great time!

I just bought a YSL last week. I wish I’d seen this instead. Well, maybe if I budget a little I can have this to. It’s just so perfect!

I honestly didn’t think anything would come close to the Bottega Veneta pink lizard clutch, but wow… divine!

I love fashion as much as the next person and I worry about being hypocritical about the fact that i have bought leather goods in the past before I knew better but it makes me sick to hear a bunch of bored useless women discussing the virtue of lizard skin as opposed to crocodile. you are the people who would support whaling! Get a grip! I hope that one day you have to slaughter an animal to get its skin. May be the tide of time will reverse and come up equal and lizards will be using you for handbags. Have you ever looked into what happens to animals, not only lizards but animals used for fur. If stupid bored rich women like you did soomething useful with their lives instead of shopping all day you might contribute to the world . You say you have two children. Are you teaching them that its good to slaughter animals so you can have a bag? Please make this site stand for something instead of killing and vanity and look at pushing designers like Stella Mccartney. ban those who use furs and skins.especially exotic

are you serious deb? i’m not stupid, bored, rich, or a woman but i love fur, ostrich, lizard, python, alligator, and any other kind of exotic skin. if you have a problem with this website, maybe you should start your own handbag blog that only supports peta approved designers.

I like the clutch and I like and buy leathergoods (as you can tell from my nick!). But I have to say that, although I don’t concur with Deb’s ‘bored useless women’ slight, I would never buy fur or exotics (except ostrich and fish), as they aren’t by-products of the meat industry and therefore, my bag would be the sole cause of the animal’s horrific life and barbaric death.

I simply couldn’t live with that – every time I looked at it, I would see a lizard, who did nothing to deserve being skinned alive.

    It’s just not worth it.
